WordPress makes it incredibly easy to install or change you theme or templates. Picking a theme should be a decision based on 3 factors:
- The look and feel of the design. You will save a lot of time by picking a theme that already offers the visual aspects you are looking for.
- The areas it defines for content, widgets, etc. (i.e. the page structure). The areas a template layout offers are important because they will determine where you can place various page elements. For example, if you are planning to have ads on the left and right sides of your website, you want to make sure you use a template that offers both left and right sidebars.
- How easy it is to customize (i.e. change colors or sizes). You can always hire someone to customize a theme so don’t worry too much about that for now (there are plenty of talented WordPress experts on ODesk or eLance).
Remember, this is not a beauty contest; it’s about making money online! Beginners should not spend too much time on cosmetics details until they understand a bit more about the major principals of making money online. For now, simply get a site up there – you can do it!
